What? Were you expecting him to mention Grace Holloway? As heard in the min-episode The Night of the Doctor, the names the 8th Doctor uttered were the five of the many companions that traveled with him in the long time since San Francisco New Year's Eve 1999 up to the events of the minisode. This three part series offers new 8th Doctor fans to learn more about each companion from all three genres that make up the good Doctor's mammoth life. Part one of the series takes a look at the companions from Big Finish Productions that have been along for the audio ride since 2001 and beyond.
Charley (India Fisher)
Charley Pollard

Charlotte Elspeth Pollard- Charley to her friends, Lottie to her mother. Born the day the Titanic sank and later stowaway on board the airship R101 on October 1930. It was there that she met the Doctor while encountering the Triskeli. With this adventure and beyond, Charley accompanied the Doctor in his travels. Throughout their adventures lingered the aftermath of her being saved from the R101 disaster which caused hard to the Web of Time. Over time, her feelings for the Doctor grew even when confronting the Time Lords and the Anti-Time creatures. She stowaway in the TARDIS once the Doctor was exiled to the Divergent Universe where they endured many an adventure well out of their depth. Occasionally she'd see a dream or hallucination of her mother at one point. She left the Doctor's company after her bemusement of his reaction to the death of C'rizz only to end up seperated from him during an encounter with the Cybermen. However her story was far from over when the 6th Doctor answered her S.O.S.....(That's for another time)
C'rizz (Conrad Westmaas)
C'rizz

C'rizz was a Eutermisan of the Divergent Universe and a monk from the Church of the Foundation. For most of his life he was taught killing was saving people. He was almost freed from that life when L'da, his lover, paid for his freedom before the Kromon invaded their world. He met the Doctor and Charley when he was found stranded and disoriented. Whilst helping his new friends, he made a awful discovery that his L'da was turning into an insect queen; with no alternative, he ended her suffering. Upon defeating the Kromon, C'rizz accompanied the Doctor and Charley in their quest to retrieve the TARDIS in their new surroundings. He later joined them back to their universe where he was just as out of depth here as they were in his. He remained with them for many adventures until he sacrificed himself saving his friends from the Absolver on the planet Utebbadon-Tarria.
Lucie (Sheridan Smith)

Lucie bleedin' Miller! Much like a certain redhead from Chiswick after her, the brash Blackpool native appeared out of nowhere in the TARDIS. It was during the event of the Daleks on the desolated planet of Red Rocket Rising, the Doctor learned she was placed under his care via the Celestial Intervention Agency's witness protection regarding a company who hired her that was in involved in conflict with the Cybermen. Throughout their time, Lucie and the Doctor dealt with every mad man and monster under the stars and even encountered her aunt Patricia Ryder on a few occasions. The second occasion led to Auntie Pat's demise at the wrath of the Zygons (Pat's Zygon lover took her form to conceal the truth from Lucie). The final meeting saw the truth of Pat's fate revealed while Lucie fought for her life dealing with a vengeful Zynog; as a result she left the Doctor's company. She reunited with him on Deimos during an excursion with the Ice Warriors. Later, she sacrificed her life saving the world from the Daleks and their Time Controller.
Tamsin (Niky Wardley)

Tamsin Drew. Struggling out of work actress who was seeking a new gig when she stumbled upon an advert seeking new time traveling companions. She answered the ad under the persona Juliet Walsh though she almost didn't make the cut until the other applicants weren't what they seemed. She traveled with the Doctor for a time before she left him in the wake of their moral differences during the Ice Warrior attack on Deimos. She ended up travelling with another Time Lord known as the Monk. She was exterminated by the Daleks during their invasion of Earth; she was one of three deaths that impact the Doctor to take direct action.
Molly (Ruth Bradley)
Molly O'Sullivan

Molly O'Sullivan was a Voluntary Aid Detachment nurse during World War I; she was stationed in France along side her charge and almost sister Kitty. She met the Doctor after he was found unconscious via mustard gas. He noticed her eyes were darker than normal human eyes; that warrant not only his attention but the Daleks. From there, Dunkirk, Hallalka, and Strangor, Molly and the Doctor were on the run from them. It was these events that Molly learned that a mysterious Time Lord known as Kotris abducted her as a child, implanted her with retro-generated particles in order to use her for a space-time projector to erase the Time Lords from reality plus having the skills of operating a TARDIS without the sheer knowledge of how. After she was saved and Kotris (and his past life) were exterminated by the Daleks, her eyes were returned to normal and she returned back to her time zone to remain by her charge's side. Her story, however, is only the beginning....
Also Companions:
Samson and Gemma Griffin (voiced by Lee Inglby and Lizzie Hopley) - a brother-sister duo from Folkstone who traveled with the Doctor prior to Charley and C'rizz. The trio had several fun adventures together ranging from the ice caves of Shabadabadon to Studio 54. Their time with the Doctor came to a volatile end when the siblings when to investigate only to end up in the cluches of Davros. As the madman entered the TARDIS, Samson restrained the Doctor as Gemma, under Davros' orders, altered the Doctor's memories; forcing him to drop Davros off on Earth, 200,000s. Upon his return to our universe, the Doctor, Charley, and C'rizz encountered them (albeit seperately) as Davros was suffering from the effects of Emperor reprogramming. Gemma served as his virus to spread all over Earth (she later died at C'rizz's hands) while Samson was struggling with the aftermath.
Mary Shelley (voiced by Julie Cox) - The legendary Frankenstein author first met the Doctor at the Vila Diodati in 1816 Switzerland when he answered a distress call sent out by himself near the end of his life. The Time Lord and Mary's adventures including the "Silver Turk", a witch from the well, axons, the Bone Lord and King Herald and the battle of Hastings. Upon Mary's request, the Doctor returned her to the Vila Diodati and went to retrieve Samson and Gemma.
The Eighth Doctor entry of the Matrix Databank series has been updated to include today's minisode The Night of the Doctor featuring the well deserved return of Paul McGann as the Eighth Doctor.

The 9th Doctor: Damaged, Manic, Sharp witted, Northern, Last of the Time Lords. This incarnation was born during the tail end of the Last Great Time War which saw the destruction of both Time Lord and Dalek alike. The event left him severely devastated and often had to hide his grief with a manic yet cheery grin. Unlike his previous eight selves, this Doctor sported a short haircut along with a black U-boat jacket, V neck jumper (ranging from red, blue, green, dark purple and jet black), black pants and boots to match. Much remains unknown about the many adventures he had save for a few documented ones ranging from his encounter with the Sontarans in Istanbul, delivered his fifth self's letters to Peri and Erimem at the Kingmaker Inn in 1483, and tended to the wounds of an old associate named Honore' Lechasseur after a bunker explosion; Lechasseur never knew who the northern gentleman was. He was also one of the twelve incarnations to attend the funeral of Sir Alastair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart. The Doctor was sited in a few historical photos obtained by Clive Finch where he was allegedly present at the days of the Kennedy Assasination, the sinking of the Titanic and the eruption of Krakatoa.
While inside a London department store called Henrik's, the Doctor met and rescued 19 year old Rose Tyler from a group of Autons. He ran into the girl once again when obtaining an Auton's arm at her family apartment on the Powell Estate. Whilst escaping a duplicate of her boyfriend Mickey Smith, the unlikely duo went straight to the TARDIS (now with a more grainy coral configuration) to trace the whereabout of the Nestine Consciousness only to find it and the real Mickey located under the London Eye. With her help, the Doctor defeated the Consciousness. Upon getting her and Mickey to safety, the Doctor offered Rose to come with him in the TARDIS but she turned down the offer and the TARDIS took off. However, immediately after an adventure in Babylon, the Doctor returned to mention to Rose that the ship can go anywhere in time and space. With that, Rose kissed Mickey goodbye and ran inside what would become her new life. For her first trip, the Doctor took Rose to Platform One in the year 5,000,000,000 to watch Earth's destruction. They soon discovered metal spiders sabotaging the platform; the metal spiders belong to "the last human" Cassandra O'Brien. With the aid and unfortunate sacrifice of Jabe of Forest Cheem, the Doctor rescued the platform and its surviving guests. Cassandra, however, was met with a grizzly fate as her skin dried to a point the frame exploded (thought her brain meat was recovered). This adventure led to the Doctor opening up to Rose about the Time War and what it cost him. Another trip was to Christmas 1869 in Cardiff where they had a run-in with the Gelth and meeting Charles Dickens. The Doctor managed to return Rose back to the Powell Estate; much to their surprise, the TARDIS arrived in 2006: a year later. Upon being greeted with questions from not only the police but Rose's mother Jackie and Mickey (who was looked at as a potential suspect), the Doctor and Rose saw a spaceship ram through Big Ben and crashed into the Thames. It was this event that saw them encountering the Slitheen. Also, the Doctor gained an ally in MP Harriet Jones. With Mickey's help, the Slitheen were blown to bits at 10 Downing Street by the Harpoon missile. Shortly after, the Doctor and Rose departed Cardiff and resumed their travels. Their later adventures involved 1924 London, Justicia, a lone Dalek, Satellite 5, the Quevvil, and 1987 where Rose wanted to see the day her father died triggering a series of time altering effects.
It wouldn't be just the two of them for long when the TARDIS landed during the London Blitz. The Doctor was tracking a strange object while Rose wandered off and ended up hanging onto a barrage balloon. She lost her grip on the rope and fell until she was rescued by the dashing young Time Agent Capt. Jack Harkness. The two joined the Doctor who's investigation led to the Albion Hospital where he discovered living dead creatures, with gas masks fused to their face, and identical symptoms, including a scar on the hand in the same place as a young child who was stalking a young homeless woman and the children she was looking after. It was discovered that the young boy was related to the woman. With Jack disarming a bomb inside the ambulence, the Doctor had it destroyed it to make sure history proclaimed the bombs hit that very location. Immediately after Capt. Jack joined the Doctor and Rose on board the TARDIS and the new crew sat off to new adventures. During this period, the trio traveled to the The Novrosk Peninsula, Bromley in 2005, a return to Cardiff dealing with the last of the Slitheen family, the Colony world 4378976.Delta-Four, Arkannis Major, 2775, New Vegas in the 23rd Century, and Kyoto, Japan. After leaving Kyoto, a bright white transmat entered the TARDIS transporting the Doctor, Rose, and Jack to Satellite 5; a hundred years after the Doctor and Rose last visited the station. The Doctor was transmatted and later escaped the Big Brother house (taking one of the contestants with him), while Jack took out two androids equivilants of Trinny Woodall and Susannah Constantine and Rose trapped playing the Weakest Link. Just as the Doctor and Jack broke in to save her Rose was gun down by the AnneDroid believed to be dead. However, it was workout that the disintegrater was nothing more than a transmat beam. Much to the Doctor's horror, he saw over two hundred Dalek fleets confirming that the Daleks survived the Time War afer all; they had Rose as their hostage. The Doctor and Jack managed to retrieve Rose only to end up meeting the Dalek Emperor. Knowing the fight would be a suicide mission, the Doctor pre-programmed the TARDIS into taking Rose home while he, Jack and the rest of the Game Station fought the Daleks. However, no one but the Doctor survived and built a delta wave generator meant to destroy all life; among the casualties was Jack and the Big Brother contestant Lynda Moss. Back on Earth and unhappy about being behind the sidelines, Rose with Mickey and her mother's help opened the TARDIS console; absorbing the heart of the ship where she returned to the station as the Bad Wolf entity much to the Doctor's fear. In the process, Rose destroyed all of the Daleks and their Emperor plus ressurected Jack in the process. Knowing the power could destroy her, the Doctor kissed Rose to abstract the time vortex from her and restored it back to the heart of the TARDIS. They left the game station unaware that they left a newly immortal Jack behind. Absorbing the vortex cause celluar damage to his body, thus dying right before Rose's very eyes. He tried to explain to her about the concept of regeneration and before he did exactly that he told Rose that she was fantastic and so was he. With that, the Time Lord regenerated; gone was the northern big eared man and now the form of a handsome skinny idiot.
The Eighth Doctor: Enigmatic, Zagreus, the Evergreen Man, Romantic, Adventurous. His birth came a few hours after his seventh incarnation died on the operating table at Walker General Hospital in San Fransisco, California on December 30, 1999. He awoke from the morgue confused and scared; wondering who he is. He scavenged for clothes by putting on a long dark green velvet coat, grey cravat and waistcoat. Upon wondering the hospital, he came cross Dr. Grace Holloway who he thought knew who he was. At the same time, the Master gained a new body in the form of the paramedic who took the Doctor to the hospital. With the aid of Chang Lee, the Master entered the TARDIS to get to the Eye of Harmony; using it to track the Doctor down. In the process of the Eye opening, the Doctor regained his memory and immediately enlisted Grace's help in obtaining an atomic clock to repair the malfunction of the TARDIS console. However, the Master eventually tracked and captured him. As the Master drained the rest of his remaining lives with the Eye, the Doctor instructed Grace to set the ship into temporal orbit triggering the Eye to lose power and preventing the universe's destruction. Freed, the Doctor defeated the Master; being sucked into the Eye of Harmony in the process. Returning Grace and Lee to January 1, 2000, the Doctor offered her to come with him but politely declined. The two parted company as he left for new adventures in the TARDIS.
After a dream about Cambridge 1979, the Doctor went to Gallifrey where he enlisted Madam President
Romana and K9 in helping him resolve a old mystery of Prof. Chronotis and the going up against Skagra and the Krags whilst entering the Time Lord prison planet Shada. Shortly after returning Romana and K9 back to Gallifrey, the Doctor returned to Earth, this time in 1997 where he re-united with Bernice Summerfield. The duo along with retired Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart and UNIT thwarted an Ice Warrior invasion. Shortly after, the Doctor dropped Benny off at St. Oscar's University on the planet Dellah. Not only did he team up with his three previous selves in thwarting the Daleks' latest scheme for universal conquest, he also encounter Morgaine and Mordred, leading to him to write a letter to his seventh incarnation about Morgaine's plans for King Arthur. Having no recollection of the Griffins or Davros, the Doctor wandered through the vortex until a encounter with a Vortisaur led to him materializing within the confines of the airship R101 where he met a young stowaway, the self-professed "Edwardian Adventurous" named Charlotte Pollard. Charley wasn't meant to be on board that day as the R101 crashed on October 5, 1930. Having saved her life and gotten chummy with the lone Vortisaur, Charley joined the Doctor in his travels. Their early adventures included the Cybermen, Venice, "Malebogia" w/ the Brigadier, New York 1938, Edwardian London 1906, Singapore with the Nimon, ROSM, a surprising run-in with the Celestial Toymaker, London's West End 1935, and 2020s w/ the Daleks during the Euro-Wars. The Web of Time became ill and it was assumed it was because of saving Charley that let to unforeseen consequences that led to the Time Lords pursuing and later captured them. According to the Celestial Intervention Agency, the rescue of Charley cause a tear in the Web of Time. Not only that, but she was also a gateway to a universe of anti-Time. The Doctor and Romana travelled into the anti-Time universe and he also managed to destroy the Never-people only to end up infected by anti-Time; his mind was hijacked by the divergent entity Zagreus while in the universe of Anti-Time and threatened the existence of the universe. With help from his previous three incarnations (while Charley, Romana, Leela and K9 went up against Rassilon), the Doctor removed Zagreus from his mind and. In case, any anti-Time lingering within him, Romana exiled him into the divergent universe. Despite his attempt to leave her behind, Charley stowed away in the TARDIS to accompany him into the universe without time.
During their time in the anti-Time universe, the duo were apart of a accelerated evolution experiment. Upon defeating the sound creature, the Doctor and Charley escaped the experiment. Shortly after, the duo wound up in the Interzone. There, they met a troubled Eutermisan named C'rizz who was on the run from the Kromon. Upon being captured, the Doctor discovered C'rizz's lover L'da mutating into the Kromon's insect queen. Given no other alternative, C'rizz ended L'da's suffering by gunning her down. With his help, the Doctor freed Charley from becoming the latest insect queen. Now free of the Kromon, C'rizz joined the Doctor and Charley in their quest for the TARDIS. During their journey, the three travellers found themselves in Light City, Setarus, the Multihaven, Bortresoye and, Caedroia. Also during their travels they kept encountering the mysterious Kro'ka. Upon arriving in Caedroia, the Doctor was split into three; two of him represented different aspects of his personality in order to defeat the Kro'ka and finally retrieve the TARDIS. After beating Rassilon, the Kro'ka and the other inhabitants, the Doctor, Charley, and C'rizz returned to N-Space. Unknown to them that Davros set up a trap for them despite his increasing mental instability due to sharing his mind with the Dalek Emperor. At the same time, the Doctor's memories of Samson and Gemma were restored. However, due to Davros' influence being too great, C'rizz performed a mercy killing; freeing her indefinitely. Rather than avoid being defeated, the Daleks agreed to evacuate Earth. The TARDIS trio's later adventures included Sammarus Institute, Endarra, The Great Exhibition of 1851, the planet Industry's Clockwork Men, The Brainworm, and the TARDIS being stolen by a ice cream van! Their travels ended in two chaotic ways however. C'rizz sacrificed himself to save the Doctor and Charley from the Absolver on the planet Utebbadon-Tarria. His death and the Doctor's blaise' behavior towards it angered Charley leading to her demanding to return home. This only prove pragmatic as they had a run-in with the Cybermen that split the two apart leaving Charley stranded on a deserted island in the year 500,002* while the Doctor was left a goodbye note from her at the Singapore Hilton.
Grim for a brief time, the Doctor traveled alone for a time before he arrived in Stockbridge. While there, he encountered the Celestial Toymaker who brainwashed the majority of the village's residents into obeying his every command. Assisting the Doctor in battling the Toymaker were the only two citizens who weren't under the Toymaker's influence: old friend Max Edison and his young friend Isabelle Sinclair. After restoring Stockbridge to normal, the Doctor once more offered Max a trip in the TARDIS but the resident UFO spotter politely declined the invite. In his place, Izzy accepted the invite and the two were off to brand new adventures. Their early adventures saw them in the 51st Century. dealing with alternate universe Daleks, and the most prominent force the Threshold. During a visit to 1939 in the South Pacific, the Doctor and Izzy ran a foul of a rich madman who injected his fellow guests with a dangerous toxin. Upon the Doctor suffering from its effects, the TARDIS took him Izzy and Fey Truscott-Sade to Gallifrey to be placed into the Matrix for recovery. With this, he was dragged into an adventure with the Elysians with the aid of Shayde. Upon his return, the Doctor regenerated into a new body much to Izzy and Fey's horror. However, the new incarnation turned out to be Shayde in disguise while the real Doctor infiltrated the Threshold. With Fey and Shayde merging as one, the Doctor was able to defeat the Threshold once and for all. The Doctor and Izzy's later adventures included human-morphant hybrid, 17th Century Japan, battling the Gaijin plus making a samurai immortal to save his life in the process, a run in with space pirates and Kroton, the Cyberman with a soul (who later joins the TARDIS crew) and a deadly confrontation with a newly resurrected Master. Their adventures took a hectic turn in the form of Ophidius. There, the Doctor and Izzy met the Oblivion native Destrii who was on the run from the Mobox. To evade facing their wrath, Destrii switched bodies with Izzy using a machine she passed off as a telepathic transmitter, Upon finding the Doctor, Destrii (in Izzy's body) was vaporized by the Mobox much to Izzy's (in Destrii's body) horror leaving her to cope with someone else's body. During this period, the duo met the artist Frida Kahlo and later tangoed with the Daleks; those "good Daleks" were a result from his previous encounter six incarnations before. Upon adventure's end, Izzy was captured by operatives of Destrii's mother, who wanted Destrii to prepare for her wedding by fighting a duel to the death. With the help of Feyde (Fey and Shayde merged in Wormwood), the Doctor was able to track down Destrii and took her to her homeword Oblivion to undo the damaged she caused. Mid way during the fight to the death, Izzy and Destrii returned to their respective bodies. Immediately after (and coming to terms with who she is and her sexuality) Izzy parted company; returning to the night she left Stockbridge. The Doctor traveled alone for a brief time before encountering Destrii again (with her uncle Jodafra) in the Dakota Hills in 1875. The Doctor stopped the Windingo and Jodafra (with Destrii's help) from sacrificing the Lakota tribe. Angered by his niece's betrayal, Jodafra beat Destrii and left her for dead; the Doctor found her and immediately took her to seek medical care. While at the Hippocrates Base, the facility was boarded by the Zeronites. With the Destrii's help, the Doctor put an end to the attack and the two sat off to adventures new (with Destrii now sporting a holographic necklace that makes her appear human). The new duo went to London 2004 where the Cybermen sought to convert the human race into being like them. After defeating the Cybermen, the Doctor and Destrii continued their travels until they parted company.
The Doctor traveled alone once again, until he landed in London 1997, where he met Samantha Jones, who was on her way to a Greenpeace rally. Intrigued by her new friend, Sam took one trip in the TARDIS before being dropped off at the rally. The Doctor later picked her up: three years later for him; a few hours for her. During the three year gap, the Doctor traveled with a young woman named Stacy Townsend who he saved during his excursion with the Cybermen and were sometime joined later by the Ice Warrior Ssard. The three traveled until the new couple parted company one they got married. Before that a brief reunion with Prof. Bernice Summerfield on Epsilon Minima. Afterwards, the Doctor returned for Sam and the duo headed out to new adventures. Early on the Doctor and Sam's travels included Vampires in 1997 San Francisco, Zygons, Werewolves, Wirrn, and the devious time cult known as Faction Paradox. Their encounter with the group lead to a shocking revelation for Sam: She fell into dimensional scar that altered her history presenting a dark version of herself. Later on, the Doctor later accquired Fitz Kreiner in 1963 and with Sam's departure following their tumultuous encounter with Faction Paradox, he gain another new companion in Compassion , an agent of the Remote (an offshoot of Faction Paradox). Several adventures later and a reunion with a widowed Lethbridge-Stewart, the TARDIS was destroyed leading to not only uneasy tension with the Time Lords and a newly regenerated Romana, but had to travel inside Compassion who at that point evolved into a TARDIS. The trio resumed their travels that led to a grand turning point in the Doctor's life: The foreknowledge of the Second War in Heaven obtained by the Doctor and the Time Lords triggered the first destruction of Gallifrey. In shock and pain, Compassion and Fitz dropped him off on Earth at the turn of the 20th Century with his own TARDIS now in cube form (it would grow back to its normal size) and a note from Fitz that told him to meet him in St. Louis in 2001. As a result he remained of Earth for a century but with no memory. Throughout the 20th Century, the amnesic Doctor dealt with fiery beings, the Players, Ferren and the revelation that he has a teenage daughter named Miranda.
As 2001 approached, the TARDIS was restored to normal size and reunited with Fitz. During the reunion Earth was being invaded by the Kulan. It was this adventure that the duo met the young stock broker Anji Kapoor and her boyfriend Dave was among the casualties of the invasion. Upon the tragedy, Anji joined the Doctor and Fitz in their travels. The new TARDIS crew found themselves dealing with pre-historic dinosaurs, alien wasps, Hitchemus Tigers, the Slow Empire, New Orleans, the planet Entusso (whilst Anji was incapacitated due to an alien cocktail she drank), and a "World of Wishes". Things took a surreal yet darker turn for the Doctor and friends when they encountered Sabbath in the 18th Century; the new foe even removed the Doctor's second heart leading to him losing his Time Lord abilities which went to Sabbath in return. The TARDIS crew would encounter their new enemy several more times while landing in several alternate timelines. Along with this, Sabbath hired con artist Beatrix "Trix" MacMillan as his agent to stowaway inside the TARDIS for time until she took Anji's place at the Doctor's side when she parted ways with him and Fitz to raise a young girl named Chloe. The Doctor would eventually find out that Sabbath was an associate for the mysterious Council of Eight who sought to delete alternate timeline for more universal control. Not only that but the Council had several of the Doctor's companions killed since they viewed them as "uncontrollable elements". With the aid of his daughter Miranda (and her daughter Zezanne) and Sabbath, the Council of Eight were defeated though not with out two casualties. The TARDIS crew resumed their travels shortly after this event. During this time, Fitz and Trix developed a relationship and the Doctor finally learned of his part in Gallifrey's destruction but also its restoration. A huge chunk of the Matrix was supplanted into the Doctor's mind with the aid of Compassion. The size of it was enough to compress his memories and triggered the amnesia. With this knowledge, the Doctor was given the opportunity to restore his homeworld and the Time Lords; assisting him was another Time Lord called Marnel. With Gallifrey restored and the Vore's invasion of Earth averted, Fitz and Trix stayed behind to settle down leaving the Doctor to travel on his own once more.
Several trips later, a young Blackpool native named Lucie Miller appeared in the TARDIS out of the blue, much to the Doctor's chagrin. It was while on the planet Red Rocket Rising that Lucie was under witness protection courtesy of the Celestial Intervention Agency who, unknown to the Doctor, suspected her future involved her becoming an evil dictator. While on the planet, the two unlikely pair thwarted two Dalek factions whilst gaining each other's trust. Despite being in unable to return Lucie to her time period, she and the Doctor got used to one another within time. The duo ended up landing at a nearby motorway station where Lucie ran into her aunt Patricia Ryder while aiding the Doctor in stopping the super beings known as the Only Ones who had one half of a brother-sister glam rock duo under their influence. Other adventures included a planet bearing an eerie resemblance to ancient Greece, Phobos (Mars' moon) and battling the Tar Modowk. Following the TARDIS duo was the mysterious Headhunter who was hired by a business man to retrieve Lucie from "competition". During the confrontation with her and the Cybermen, it was discovered that Lucie's co-worker was the CIA project not her all along. Immediately after this event, the Doctor and Lucie resumed their travels. Their later adventures involved a snake sentinent, a murder mystery involving a space ship TV program, the Autons, the black diamond (plus another encounter with the Headhunter) and the Zygons at a hotel in 1984 wich saw another reunion with Lucie and her Auntie Pat who, unknown to her, died during the confrontation and in her place was her Zygon lover who took her form to hide the real Pat's death. Things took a radical turn for the TARDIS duo when they found themselves dealing with a devilish philanthropist who successfully resurrected Morbius. During a struggle, the Doctor and Morbius fell down from the resurrected madman's palace; their bodies and the interstellar manipulator were never recovered. Lucie was in mourning for six months before being taken by the Headhunter to go find the Doctor. It was revealed that the Doctor spent 600 years on the planet Orbis and along with him Morbius' intersteller manipulator. Upon retreiving him and the interstellar manipulator destroying Orbis in the process, Lucie and the Doctor resumed their travels much to the Time Lord's sorrow and bemusement; this behavior was short lived. The duo's later adventures included the Krynoids, the fabled Beast of Orlok, Wirrn, the clan Baroque during World War II, murderous servicedroids and the Eight Legs of Metebelis III. The secret of Auntie Pat's demise would come back to haunt the Doctor and the Zygon Haygoth in Christmas 2009 when a Zynog sought to take over Lucie's body to get revenge on Haygoth. In the process, Lucie learned the truth about the real Pat and decided to leave the Doctor.
For a while, the Doctor traveled alone. He went to 22nd Century Earth where he not only reunited with his granddaughter Susan Campbell (nee Foreman) but met his great-grandson Alex. Several short trips later, he landed on Earth and met four individuals who were auditioning to become his new companion. Out of the four, he chose a struggling actress named Tamsin Drew. Much to her surprise, Tamsin learned that the Doctor didn't put the advert in the newspaper but someone else did. Aside from this mystery, the new friends had several adventures together including the planet Nevermore and 1006 Ireland where the stopped a newly regenerated Monk and his curious assistant from taking the Book of Kells. Unknown to the Doctor, the Monk's assisstant turned out to be Lucie Miller under the guise of "Brother Lucianus". The Doctor and Tamsin landed on Deimos where they encountered the Ice Warriors as well as the Monk. It was this adventure that saw the Doctor reuniting with Lucie and Tamsin, after being shown a faux destruction of a civilization allegedly caused by the Doctor, went with the Monk. Shortly after, the Doctor and Lucie had Christmas dinner in the TARDIS with Susan and Alex as guests after which, Lucie stayed behind with them while the Doctor resumed his solo travels. Upon escaping the Consensus after being held prisoner for six years, the Doctor was heading to Earth after recieving a distress signal from Lucie regarding the Daleks invading Earth. He along with Lucie, Alex, Susan, and Tamsin learned of the Monk's part in aiding the Daleks in their conquest. It was this event that saw the deaths of Tamsin (who was surplus to Dalek requirements and exterminated on the spot) and Alex while saving his mother and Lucie. Lucie also died while sacrificing her life destroying the Dalek with their doomsday weapon which created a time warp eradicating the Daleks and the Dalek Time Controller. After being returned to the TARDIS, the Doctor in rage and grief chastised the Monk (also in grief) for his stupidity and meddling. The deaths of Lucie, Alex, and Tamsin left the Doctor in anger and grief leading to him travelling alone and Susan not only a widow but now a grieving mother to her dead child.
Upon a visit from the Time Lord Straxus, the Doctor was desperate for hope to a point where he wanted to see the end of the universe to see how everything turned out. Instead he was sent on a mission by Straxus to World War I with his new sonic screwdriver in tow. While there, he met a Voluntary Aid Detachment nurse named Molly O'Sullivan who was tending to his wounds and his aftershock. Upon being saved by Molly after being confronted by a deranged American doctor, the two found themselves on the run from the Daleks who were searching for the young VAD. While on the run, the TARDIS landed in Dunkirk during the Second World War. Upon returning to the ship and explaining to his dark eyed friend about it, the Doctor changed from his torn attire into a blue leather pea coat, white t-shirt, denim jeans, brown suede boots and a old medical bag he accquired from the trenches. The TARDIS arrived in both 1972 London and the planet Halalka while evading the Daleks. Upon leaving the planet, the Doctor and Molly learned that their foes were being assisted by a rouge Time Lord called Kotris who sought to destroy all Time Lords. Once they've learned of Kotris early encounter with Molly, her and the Doctor ended up on Skaro where the Daleks there became peaceful after the destruction of the Time Lords. Of course that turned out to be part of a simulation generated for propaganda. The duo were saved by Straxus and later arrived on Srangor where the Daleks sat up shop which contained both Kotris and the Dalek Time Controller. Much to both the Doctor and Molly's horror, it was discovered that she was implanted with retro-generated particles in order to use her for a space-time projector to erase the Time Lords from reality. Another revelation was that Kotris was actually a future incarnation Straxus who was ashamed of the Time Lords' machinations and hypocrisy. Straxus was able to manipulated Kotris into using the generator to destroy the Daleks. In the process, an old civillian of the planet sacrificed his life to destroy the projector and the Dalek Time Controller exterminated both Straxus this Kotris ceasing to exist. After this event the Doctor and Molly returned to the TARDIS and departed Srangor. Molly returned to the trenches or World War I and the Doctor was left alone again. However, this chapter is far from over....

The 7th Doctor: Trickster, Manipulator, Merlin, Spoon player, the umbrella man and Time's Champion. His birth came at a more crucial time as the sixth regeneration commenced on Lakertya courtesy of the Rani's tractor beam. His first adventure saw him taken to the Rani's TARDIS, while still in his previous incarnation's outfit, injecting him with an amnesia serum as she posed as Melanie Bush. As he took her back to his TARDIS, he changed his clothes from the colorful jester to a off white (later chocolate brown) safari jacket, with a question mark pullover, Panama hat, and a paisly tie. Upon escaping with the real Mel after the amnesia wore off, the Doctor found a room containing the many geniuses known to history who were held captive to be to be components for the Rani's "time brain". The Doctor destroyed it as it couldn't handle his new persona and save the captives; taking them back to their respective time zones defeating the Rani in the process. Shortly after, the Doctor and Mel went to London 2007 to look into institute where the Celestial Intervention Agency experimented on humans, trying to graft TARDIS minds into their bodies; in the process the Doctor was electrocuted and went insane. After getting a pre-recorded message from him as the TARDIS was pre-programed to send her to the institute, Mel restored the Doctor's mind and sanity and the two confronted the medics of the Institute.
Sometime later, the Doctor dropped off Mel and traveled alone briefly and picked up Frobisher. After the incursion with the Ice Warriors, Frobisher parted from the Doctor's company (particularly in the wake of what he learned about what became of Peri). Among his solo travels, the Doctor encountered the renown Dalek killer Abslom Daak during his hunt for Daleks. Afterwards, the Doctor picked up Mel and the duo resumed their travels. Among their adventures was a trip to Paradise Towers where they encountered Kangs, Rezzies, and the Great Architect. Following on was the Intergalactic Song Contest where a murder attempt was to take place. Another trip, the planet Puxatornee where it had an unusual time loop, Shangri-la 1959 dealing with the Bannermen and Pompei. During this time, the Doctor's behavior was slowly changing from the spoon playing goofball to a more sinister planner. The Doctor and Mel went to Iceworld where they re-encounter Sabalom Glitz. Along with him was his 15 year old companion called Ace (real name Dorothy McShane) who was brought to Iceworld via a time storm. There were in a quest for the "Dragon" unknown to them was a robot controlled by the demented exile Kane. After Kane's suicide, the four friends were about to part ways until Mel elected to stay with Glitz and Ace to take her place by the Doctor's side.
Immediately, Ace and her "Professor" got on splendidly. The new duo went to Shoreditch, 1963 (a few days after his first incarnation, Susan, Ian, and Barbara departed from Totters Lane) to complete where he left off several lives ago regarding the Hand of Omega. However, the quest was interrupted by two Dalek factions as the Doctor, Ace and the Counter Measures group (led by Group Capt. Ian "Chunky" Gilmore and Rachel Jensen) fought to stop the conflict. In the process, Davros was revealed to have been working behind the scenes under the guise of the Dalek Emperor. In the end, the Doctor tricked Davros into using the Hand of Omega to create a sun supernova that immediately destroyed Skaro and the Black Dalek was forced into suicide. Sometime later, the TARDIS duo went to Terra Alpha where they help remove the tyrannical Helen A and the Kandyman. Following on was the hunt for the Nemesis statue; also along for the hunt was Lady Peinforte, Hans de Flores, and the Cybermen and a trip to the Psychic Circus. As time went on, the Doctor personality grew darker and more manipulative. Several adventure later, the Doctor and Ace help UNIT (now with Brigadier Winifred Bambera) and the long since retired Lethbridge-Stewart. Several trips later, the TARDIS landed inside Gabriel Chase in 1883; a century before Ace burnt it down. While there, the Doctor battled the deranged entity Light who sought to stop evolution. The Doctor and Ace later went to 1943 where, unknown to her, interacted with her grandmother and her infant mother. During this, it was revealed that he knew both Ace's arrival and how Lady Peinforte was able time travel was arranged by Fenric, an evil entity he encountered before and trapped in another dimension. In the process, the Doctor tricked the Ancient One into killing Fenric's host form. Further, Ace's faith in the Doctor was shattered while defeating the Ancient One. Sometime after, the Doctor and Ace arrived in Perivale, 1989 where Kitlings sightings and people disappearing was ongoing. Much to his dismay, the Doctor discovered the Master had been trapped and infected on Cheetah World and was trying to escape by bringing people to change partially and escape to Earth. Once the civillians escape back to Earth, the Doctor beat the Master by playing with his sense of dignity and escaped the Cheetah planet. The Doctor and Ace went back to the TARDIS as he said "they've got work to do..."
As the TARDIS arrived in Moscow 1967, the Doctor got in touch with the Time Lords about enrolling Ace at the Academy. He manipulated Ace to the benefit of the Time andLords to observe her full potential. Their assessment was in the form of dealing with the Ice Warriors as well as meeting Marcus Creevy and his Russian companion Raina Kerenskaya (who was then fifteen weeks pregnant with their only daughter). Upon Ace's bemusement of finding about the assessment, she refused the Time Lord Academy opportunity and decided to resume her travels with the Doctor. The Doctor popped up from time to time to check up on Creevy and his daughter leading up to meeting her face to face in 1989; by then Raine's now in her early 20s and is a skilled thief. He recruited the young woman to steal a sword for him while he sent Ace to Russia on a secret mission. The Doctor sought to use the sword to ward off an alien incursion known as the Metatraxi. After the incursion was defeated, Raine joined the Doctor and Ace in their adventures. The new TARDIS trio went to Margrave University 2001 assisting UNIT in investigating the alien creatures imprisoned in the science labs and a second encounter with the Metatraxi. The Doctor, Ace and Raine would encounter them once more while going undercover on the Space Vessel Vancouver. Several adventures and short trips later Raine departs the TARDIS leaving the Doctor and Ace to resume their travels. The duo's later adventures saw them dealing with Daleks on Kar-Charrat, batting the Krill twice; the first time on the water world of Coralee and the second on Duchamp 331 in the 26th Century where they they encounter the Master again (under the alias Mr. Seta). The duo later arrived at Colditz Castle in 1945 where they were held captive by Nazis. While interrogated, the Doctor met Elizabeth Klein who demanded the TARDIS key from him. He learned Klein was from a alternate timeline where the Nazis won the war; she accessed the TARDIS flight logs to travel here to and planned to learn about the TARDIS before the Doctor died. The Doctor was forced to co-operated once Klein bargained with Ace's life. Much to Klein's dismay, the TARDIS she arrived in de-materialized and had to make do of the Doctor's. Upon the return to Colditz Castle, the Doctor tricked Nazi Officer Feldweber Kurtz into exposing Klein; preventing her timeline from ever coming to pass making her an anomaly. After this event and the gruesome death of Kurtz, Ace wanted a break from the dangers. With that, the Doctor took her to Ibiza, 1997. There the duo ended up battling a strange DJ who sought to raise an army to fight a war in another dimension and Ace encountering her long lost brother, Liam.
The duo traveled to London 2021 to investigate alien technology that was being used at St. Gart's Brookside Hospital. There, the Doctor and Ace met the hospital's male nurse Thomas Hector "Hex" Schofield; the son of Cassie (whom the Doctor tried to cure in his sixth incarnation). With Hex's help, the duo defeated the Cybermen and the scouse nurse joined them in their travels. Throughout this period, the Doctor, Ace, and Hex dealt with the Galyari, overthrow a fascist government on a colony planet, Egypt, Monte Carlo, Switzerland, Bliss and an encounter with the demented Word Lord, Nobody No-One. The adventures eventually grew dark when the TARDIS crew had a few run ins with The Forge. The earliest was in 1917 at the height of World War I; the second after WWII where Ace encounter her mother as a toddler. The trio found themselves in the year 1854 where Hex met Florence Nightingale and Ace, Leon Trotsky. The exterior of the TARDIS turned white after the HADS were activated by cannon fire as a result. Among the chaos, Hex was gun down by a spy leading to the Doctor and Ace to take him to St Gart's in 2025. After Hex recovered, he met the devious Nimrod and the Forge where he was told (by Nimrod's account) of what happened to his mother. With that revelation followed by Nimrod being destroyed by mutated version of Cassie that triggered Hex to leave the TARDIS. However, the departure was very short lived as he, Ace, and the Doctor encounter Nobody No-One once again. With the aid of Evelyn Rossiter (nee Smythe), the maniacal Word Lord was defeated and Evelyn passed away in the process. Shortly after this and a trip to 1930s Alaska, the Doctor grew a black TARDIS to travel alone in it going toe to toe against Sandminor Robots, rescuing a clone version of Nostradamus and battling the Elder God Mi'en Kalarash with the aid of a new companion Sally Morgan. Shortly after, the two were joined by Lysandra Aristedes. While the Doctor programmed the Black TARDIS to materialize in Denmark 5th Century and to 1989 in an alternate timeline, the White TARDIS sent Ace and Hex to that particular timeline giving both parties a mission to investigate the Elder Gods who created the timeline and defeat them. Upon entering the Black TARDIS, Ace and Hex discovered Sally and Lysandra and came to the conclusion that the Doctor traveled in both TARDISes simultaneously. The four companions traveled to the 5th Century Denmark where they encountered Beowolf and battled a a campy homicidal alien named Garundel. It was discovered that the Doctor was kidnapped by Fenric. The TARDIS crew reunited with the Doctor as they found out Fenric was playing against another Elder God named Weyland for his shield which could grant omnipotence to an Elder God and that all five travellers were pawns as was the Forge. Further, Hex was destined to become the quintessential pawn in Weyland's plan, as he was the one who prevented his death after being shot in Scutari. Weyland posessed Hex's body just as the young man attempted to stop the game. In the end, Hex sacrificed himself to the his friends. Hex's demise strained the Doctor and Ace's relationship in the process.
Sometime later, the duo found themselves going up against the Time Lord demon known as the Timewyrm in various points of history: Mesopotamia, alternate 1950s, Kirith, the Moon, and Cheldon Boniface. Several adventures later, the Doctor took Ace to Perivale for the funeral of her friend Julian Milton. Shortly after the funeral, the Doctor and Ace travelled to the planet Heaven in the 26th Century. It was, their that the duo met Professor Bernice Summerfield and the travellers. Ace fell in love with one of them by the name of Jan. It was around this time the Hoothi ran amuck with the aid of the Vaccum Church. Knowing Jan was infected by the fibres, the Doctor ordered him to leave Ace behind while he went to the sphere himself only to end up sacrificed in the process. Ace followed nonetheless and realised the Doctor's plans which upset her dearly. Upon defeated the Vaccum Church and the Hoothi, Ace had enough and elected to leave the Doctor's company and Prof. Summerfield joined the Doctor in his travels. The Doctor and Benny encountered Kadiatu Lethbridge-Stewart, Chelonians, and the Yssgaroth. Later, they were rejoined by a now older Ace who became a full fledge Dalek Killer and slightly battle hardened. Although their relationship were strained from what happened to Hex and Jan, the Doctor and Ace managed to resolve their differences after battling the Monk. Shortly after, the Doctor, Ace, and Benny resumed their adventures.
They battled the Master; newly regenerated, crossed paths with Sherlock Holmes and Watson, The Scourge, the cult of the Dark Flame, and stripping some Eternals of thier immortality. Several adventures later, Ace left the TARDIS for good; adopting her new role as Time's Vigilante. For a time, the Doctor and Benny traveled alone until they arrived in the 30th Century where they had a run in with a kept alive Tobias Vaughn who scavenged Cyber parts from certain Cybermen encounters. With the aid of Adjudicators Rosalyn Forrester and Christopher Cwej, Vaughn was defeated (The Doctor later removed Vaughn's brain crystal and installed it in a food machine) and the two joined the TARDIS crew. Throughout this period, the Doctor traded his safari jacket and question mark pullover for a creme' white linen suit; embracing his role as Time's Champion. The foursome's adventures included the Charron in the Sloath Pocket Universe, another run-in with Chelonians, the Land of Fiction where the Doctor reunited with Melanie Bush, the People, Sontarans and Yemaya 4. One adventure in the Magellan Cluster saw Benny meeting and later became engaged to Jason Kane. The two married in Cheldon Boniface in June 2010. During the wedding, Sir Alastair Lethbridge-Stewart regenerated back to his younger self circa his UNIT days courtesy of a Fortean Flicker. As a wedding gift, the Doctor gave Benny and Jason Time Rings. As the happy couple enjoyed their lives together, the Doctor, Roz and Chris continued their travels. The trio traveled to Mars on the eve of the Dalek Invasion of Earth, encountering the Carnival Queen, and even reunited with Benny and Jason when she discovered the whereabouts of her father, Admiral Issac Summerfield. Roz's time with the Doctor would come to a tragic end as her death in mid-2982 was a fixed point in time that couldn't be undone as it was apart of history. At her funeral, the Doctor suffered a one sided heart attack and a vision of death appeared to him; tormenting him about his fate. Roz's death caused great strain between the Doctor and Chris; he abandoned the linen suit for a tweed jacket and a red waistcoat. Among their later adventures was in Japan, 1560. While Chris waited for the Doctor to pick him up, the Doctor donned the linen suit once more paying one Elizabeth Klein a visit in 1955 Kenya. She ended up in his company where she found out the person who helped her obtained the TARDIS was the Doctor's eighth incarnation. During an encounter with the Vrill, Klein got hold of the TARDIS key to restore her timeline once and for all leaving the Doctor stranded. In this new timeline she created, Klein captured this new timeline's Doctor and imprisoned him on the Moon. She helped the Galactic Reich conquer the Daleks and Sontarans and any other potential threats by travelling in time and informing the past. At the same time, the Reich's moonbase was boarded by Selachians. The Time Lords intervened and erase Klein's timeline and she was given a new memory now working for UNIT. Shortly after picking up Chris, the Doctor returned to Gallifrey when he came face to face with his past existance and the House of Lungbarrow. Upon reuniting with Ace and was given instructions to collect the Master's ashes on Skaro by Lord President Romana, Chris elected to stay behind. Despite Romana's instructions, the Doctor delayed the trip and took several solo trips.
Among his solo travels was the planet Valhalla, the Ice Warriors on Earth, and teaming up with his fifth and sixth incarnations in battling the Sirens of Time. After being burned back into existance in the wake of the Word Lord's defeat, the Doctor found himself on Perfuguim where he encounter the Master who lived under the alias of John Smith with no memory of who he really is courtesy of a deal between him and Death. Later adventures included the Dar Traders and Cybermen before reuniting with Rain Creevy. During flight, the TARDIS was pulled into another dimension where the duo met a future incarnation of the Doctor who was helping UNIT in a few alien incursions. Amidst this and reuniting with Klein, the supposed incarnation of the Doctor was actually a newly regenerated Master. The Master captured the Doctor and had him hooked to the Node Stone, but the Doctor, with the help of footage his companions had that showed the Master planting the first Node Stone helped convince the Tolians to betray the Master and restore the dimensions. The Doctor escaped as did the Master who managed to survive the confusion. Just before he left with Raine, the Doctor presented Klein with a space-time telegraph to contact him, should she need his help again. Shortly after Raine parted company, the Doctor went to sort out his error on the Drashani Empire. The Doctor later recruited Klein in travelling to the finally days of Hitler's Germany where they came across a scientist whose strange experiments regarded the power of Persuasion. Along for the ride was Klein assistant Will Arrowsmith. The three later encountered Garundel, the Sontarans and the Daleks before parting company.
After a long delay, the Doctor finally honored the request and retrieve the Master's ashes from Skaro. In snake form, the Master escaped from his urn causing much damage to the TARDIS console leading to the Doctor to land the ship on Earth, December 30, 1999. Just as he stepped out, the Doctor was gun down by gang members. He tried to explain to the young man named Chiang Lee but to no avail as the little man was rushed to the hospital. Unknown to the Doctor, the medial team assumed that he was fibrillating and that the X-rays showing his two hearts was a double exposure. To "fix it', Cardioalogist Dr. Grace Holloway performed the procedure. The Doctor tried to explain to Grace about his physiognomy but was immediately put under anesthetic. And with that, the procedure inadvertently killed the Doctor. Despite the attempts to revive him, he was pronounced dead. However, several hours later at the morgue, the regeneration commenced. The little man transformed into a dashing young man but with no memory of who he is as a result of the anesthetic.
As announced live at 2:28pm ET/7:28pm GMT (London), Peter Capaldi was announced as the new Doctor.
The Academy Award and BAFTA winneing Glaswegian actor is now the latest in the long line of Doctor and the first actor in his mid 50s since William Hartnell fifty years before to inherit the role. As acknowledged on the live special, Capaldi's a long time fan of the program and had appeared opposite his predecessor in 2008's Fires of Pompeii w/ then incumbent 10th Doctor David Tennant and most known to Torchwood fans as Home Office Secretary John Frobisher. In recent weeks prior to today, Capaldi was among the top condenders in several bookie agencies along with others bets like Daniel Rigby, Idris Elba and Billie Piper (?!)
It's been noted for years Steven Moffat wanted to cast an older actor as the Doctor and came close to finding one in 2008 before Matt Smith blew him and then incoming co-executive producer Beth Willis away with his audition landing Smith the role of the 11th. Now, the Moffat apotheosis is in full circle.
The 6th Doctor: Bombastic, stubborn, driven, unpredictable, and the very model of a Gallifreyan Buccaneer. This larger than life incarnation was born in the lieu of his previous incarnation sacrificing himself to save Peri Brown. While expressing great joy at his new body, the regenerative progress was ass unstable as the last; only this time with extreme mood swings (occasionally violent), mental/personality issues and bouts of paranoia that led to him nearly strangling Peri. In the process he traded in his mud coated cricket attire for an outfit that was a league of its own: A patchwork coat, yellow striped trousers, a turquoise polka-doc cravat (later red, yellow and purple), dark brown waistcoat, and a cat broach on his lapel. In the wake of his actions, the Doctor exiled himself to Titan III for his own self punishment. It was there, he met his fellow Time Lord Azmael whom he found associated with the slug creature Mestor who sought to launch gastropods into various planets. Early in this incarnation's life, the Doctor's manic and violent moods were evident causing some friction between hium and Peri; he eventually mellowed out as time rolled on.
The duo's travels saw them involved with Cybermen in their scheme to save Mondas by destroying Earth with Haley's Comet. Varos where deadly games were entertainment. 19th Century London: the Industrial Revolution; the Doctor and Peri not only had a run-in with the Master but also a Time Lady known as The Rani. After their fishing trip, the Doctor became faint and went to Space Station Chimera where he surprisingly ran into Jamie McCrimmon. Upon the discovery of his second incarnation being held captive, the Doctor, Peri, and Jamie went to Seville to save him and stop the Antrogums Shockeye and Chessene and the Sontarans from carrying out their time machine plan. Later, the Doctor and Peri went to Karfel where it was under the rule of Megelan. It was this event that let to the Doctor meeting H.G. Wells; unintentionally serving as an inspiration for Wells' book "The Time Machine". While he left Peri at a botany symposium, the Doctor encountered Davros and the two were force to work together by a company CEO. Sometime later after picking up Peri, the Doctor took her to 1900 on the steamboat Lancaster where they saved a Mermaid and her child from an agent of the organization called The Forge. Upon recieving news of the death of an old friend, the Doctor and Peri traveled to Necros to pay respects; unknown to the duo that it was all a ruse devised by Davros. In addition, the Doctor learned that Davros created another batch of Daleks; those who are loyal to him. After Davros' plans were thwarted and taken back to Skaro to stand trial, the TARDIS duo set course for Blackpool. 1985. While there, the duo encounter the Celestial Toymaker. The Doctor and Peri's later travels included Magnus, New Dawn, Hollowdean, Targos Delta, 16th Century London, a Space Whale, The Philadelphia Experiment and many more. The Doctor and Peri returned to London 1984 upon hearing the news of the death of family friend and others who were converted by the Cybermen. It was this adventure, that saw Peri reuniting with her mother Janine Foster who and her neighbor fell prey to destruction mechanism triggered by Katherine Chambers. With, no family left, Peri remained by the Doctor's side and resumed their travels before she stay on Earth for a brief amount of time.
During this period, the Doctor traveled alone until he met the shapeshifting Whifferdill by the name of Avan Tarklu who sought to collect bounty from Josiah W. Dogbolter. He turned him in; little did Dogbolter's men knew that Tarklu was in the guise of the Doctor and the two escaped unharm. After this event the Whifferdill took up residence in the TARDIS; in honor of their new friendship (and in deference to the Doctor's love of all things English), he took the name Frobisher complete with his now familar form of a large penguin. Throughout their travel, the duo were tasked to retrieve a set of stolen starcharts by the mysterious being called Voyager from the insane Time Lord Astrolabus ; they perused him across the universe, across world of fantasy and imagination, far-flung planets, and surprisingly the pages of a children's storybook. In between this saga, The Doctor reunited with Dr. Ivan Asimoff in a quest to save a Zyglot from captivity. Some time after, the Doctor and Frobisher landed on Earth to retrieve Peri. The trio continued their travels until Frobisher resumes his PI duties (for him 3 weeks). Later, the Doctor and Peri found themelves in two adventures that had a even bigger mystery than realized. The duo arrived on the planet Ravalox for relaxation only to discover the planet was actually Earth (moved a thousand light years away from it original position) and stopping the degranged Drathro from igniting a black light explosion. It was on the planet that the Doctor and Peri met the con man Sabalom Glitz and his right hand man Dibber. After that, the TARDIS landed on Throus Beta, home to Sil and his species who were making a deal with the bombastic King Ycarnos. In the process of a failed attempt to probe his mind, the Doctor faked his siding with the Mentors and assisted them on helping Mentor Kiv transplant his mind into another Mentor who was deceased. Peri was chosen as a suitable candidate, placing her in huge danger. Just as the Doctor was going to save her, the Time Lords plucked him off the planet and onto the Space Station Zenobia where, unbeknownst to him, would be put on trial for interfering in the affairs of the universe...
For the trial, Inquisitor Darkel was acting judge while the mysterious Valeyard was acting prosecutor. In the wake of being taken out of the time, the Doctor briefly suffered from amnesia which wore off shortly. While representing himself, the Valeyard presented two examples of what he's accused of from the Matrix: Ravalox/Earth and Thoros Beta. Upon viewing the events of the latter, the Doctor was dealt a serious blow of witnessing Peri's fate. Had the Time Lords not took him out of time, he would've been able to save her. For his defense, the Doctor presented an adventure from his future with his latest companion Melanie Bush, a computer programmer from Pease Pottage. In this adventure, the Doctor and Mel went to a space starliner as scapegoats to weed out hijackers. Things went south when the Vervoids awaken from their pods to attack the passengers including their creator Prof. Lasky. The Doctor destroyed most of them by fast forwarding their life cycle. That detail triggered the Valeyard to charge the Doctor with genocide despite the face that the Vervoids were only artificial in nature. Much to the Doctor and the court's surprise, as Mel and Sabalom Glitz were brought in as witnesses courtesy of the Master (who managed to get in the Matrix. At the same time, the Doctor made a horrific discovery: The Valeyard was an evil manifestation between his twelve and final incarnations. Despite this revelation, Darkel declared the trial moot as the Valeyard made a get away into the Matrix. The Doctor, along with Glitz went after him leading to a confrontation between the two. Much to the Doctor's discovery, the Valeyard tampered with evidence with the assistance of the High Council in an attempt to steal the remaining regenerations and Peri was actually alive (she was saved and later married Ycarnos. With the Valeyard defeated, the Doctor was exonerated and returned Mel back to his future self on the planet Oxyveguramosa.
During his time alone, the Doctor went to Torrok for reclusion ensuring he'd never become the Valeyard. Though that changed when the Time Lords sent him to Earth in the late 22nd Century to stop a Datavore. It was there he met Grant Markham whom later traveled with him for a brief time. As he slowed became a somber person, the Doctor went to Bianca's (where it was build on TARDIS remains) where he re-united with Iris Wildthyme and the two battles Bianca and her army of Wyrms. After several solo travels, the Doctor re-united with Frobisher and thwo resumed their adventures. Among them a pocket universe and its royals created by a man who murdered his own son. The duo later encounter Sabalom Glitz on the planet Vandor Prime where the three collaborated on the "crime of the century". The event led to Dibber's demise and Glitz obtaining a spacecraft he christened the Nosferatu. Sometime later after Frobisher left once again, the Doctor found himself alone again. Upon answering a distress call, he arrived on a planet where the TARDIS was viewed as a godly artifact. To his shock he saw Peri though it turned out to be a simulation part of a scheme to make the Doctor commit suicide. After this. the Doctor went to Earth 2009 where met another version of Peri. It was during their investigation of a Piscon that it was revealed that the Time Lords created multiple versions of Peri. After that, the Peri of 2009 decline the Doctor's offer of rejoining him.
Sometime later, while investigating a nexus point distortion at Sheffield Hallam University, the Doctor met Dr. Evelyn Smythe. Identified as the temporal nexus point, he took the 55 year old Historian to 1555 stabilize it; saving her life in the process. With the situation sorted, Evelyn elected to join the Doctor. on his travels. Overtime the two friends had many a adventure: investigating the Tregonnon with the retired Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart, a run-in with the Daleks on Etra Prime where the Doctor freed Romana, meeting Charles Darwin, The Galyari, another Dalek run-in on an alternate version of London 2003 and Pirates! It was this time that the Doctor changed his multi-colored attired into a blue variant of it. In London 1999, the duo encountered two shifty individuals experimenting with Vampire DNA who were on the run from the organization The Forge and it's immortal head honcho Nimrod. During this, Evelyn befriended the young mother Cassandra Schofield who later became infected by the Vampire virus. Cassie was taken to Norway as her hiding place til the Doctor could find a cure for her condition. Once the cure was finally found, the Doctor and Evelyn returned for Cassie only to find her now working with the Forge as their latest agent. Nimrod captured the Doctor in order
to force his regeneration for study while Evelyn did her best to free Cassie from Nimrod's influence. Once Cassie gained control again, the confronted Nimrod and freed the Doctor. Before she could escape with the him and Evelyn, Nimrod shot and killed Cassie with his crossbow. The young mother's death put a strain of the Doctor and Evelyn's relationship; even moreso her heart condition. When the TARDIS landed on Vilag, Evelyn decided on needing some time way from the Doctor. It was that event that saw a relationship between Evelyn and Rossiter; but she remained with the Doctor. The duo continued their travels until Evelyn finally decided to stay on Vilag to be with Rossiter.
While slightly sad about Evelyn leaving his company, the Doctor resumed his travels alone. After an adventure with the Brigadier, the Doctor turned up at Pease Pottage to pick up Mel until he saw his younger self triggering a parade of confusion while dealing with a devious foe who created a fake version of the town as a trap. Once the alien was defeated and a Mel duplicate was created, the two Mels were returned to their respective time periods and the Doctor went on his way til he mets her properly. Later, the Doctor went after the Daleks and Davros; discovery the deformed madman sought to change history by interfering in the Battle of Waterloo. To prevent it, the Doctor used a mind exchange device to swap bodies with Davros in a attempt to reform the Daleks; Davros escaped only to find himself in the company of Phillipa Jackson and her boyfriend Jared. Convinced that the Doctor (Davros) she was with was an imposture, Flip defected to Davros (the Doctor)' side and managed to trick the Daleks into believing he really was Davros. Once Napoleon saw their true nature, he surrendered. After this and leaving Jared on the escape pod, Flip decided on joining the Doctor much to his surprise. The two traveled for some time before parting company. For a time, the Doctor lived in Victorian London under the alias of "Claudius Dark" while assisting Jago and Litefoot in their cases and later took the duo to Venus and Roanoke Island.
Sometime later, the Doctor answered a SOS on a desert island in 500,002 where he rescued Charlotte Pollard; unknown to him was his future incarnation's companion. The two arrived on Earth in February 2008 where they found themselves in a middle of a murder investigation. It was this event that the Doctor met D.I. Patricia Menzies whom he encountered out of sync (here, her first time meeting him, the following encounter and her third while Evelyn was present). As the investigation continued, the Doctor discovered an alien named Slater was responsible for the victim's death with a strange toxin that bonds those who come in contact with it to the housing estate. Afterwards, the Doctor took Charley in and the two sat off towards adventures new. Most of which included an encounter with the fact-finding Grel, the Daleks on Spiridon, the Krotons and the Raincloud Man. When the Doctor confronted Charley regarding his suspicions, she fainted and was taken to the Zero Room to recover. Much to his horror, the Doctor discovered Charley was infected with a virus; he spent several years searching a cure for her. The quest for the cure led to a space station constructed by the Viyrans a conspiracy involving the Daleks and their mysterious Time Controller. During the chaos, Charley encountered the real victim of the virus and the strange woman took to Charley's form while the real one fades out of existance. Unaware of the perdicament, the Doctor and Mila (in Charley's form) went to Draconia after recieving a summons from the deceased Emperor. While there he discovered a conspiracy of the newly crowned prince, his mother, and paper soldiers conceived for amusement. Shortly after, the Doctor and Mila arrived in an alternate timeline conceived by the Viyrans to extract a virus from Earth's population. It was their that the Doctor discovered the real Charley and Mila's ruse. Mila sacrificed herself to save them both; Charley also revealed herself and her time with his later incarnation. To erase his memories of her, Charley used the Viyrans' memory-altering technology to replace Mila with herself in the Doctor's memories of their travels together.
Long after, the Doctor reunited with a version of Jamie McCrimmon (under the guise of Black Donald). However, the memory wipe save for the first encounter remained in tact. The duo had a few adventures until the Doctor realized they were in the Land of Fiction and Jamie himself as a fictional character after a brief cut on him bled black ink as opposed to real blood. The mystery was solved as the Doctor found out that the new Mistress was none other than Zoe Herriot. During the reunion, the Cybermen invaded the Land. The trio along with other fictional characters defeated them. The fictional version of Jamie remained in the Land of Fiction, telling the Doctor to seek the real Jamie if he ever finds him again in the Scottish Highlands. The Doctor returned Zoe to the Wheel as the Time Lords' conditioning of her mind returned and she lost her memories of him for the last time. With this followed by foiling the Master's plan to manipulate the stock exchange, the Doctor resumed his solo travels until he finally met Melanie Bush proper in Brighton, 1989.
The duo's adventures included the Tantem Spaceport as well as the second encounter with the Eminence. The Doctor and Mel went to Generious only to discover two con artists by the names of Banto Zame and Sally Anne pretending to be the Doctor and his assistant while manipulate fake dangers for financial gain. When an actual threat came, the four had to alternative but to team up to retrieve the planet's treasures. The TARDIS duo had another run-in with the Daleks and Davros; this time under the guise of Prof. Vasso plus the Mechanoids whom he copyrighted as "the Juggernauts". Sometime later, the Doctor took Mel to 2003 to see her uncle. However, a strange occurrence sent Mel to 1782 with amnesia. The Doctor and her uncle went to the time period to save her. Having discovered Mel was her own ancestor, the Doctor managed a way to save her and maintain the timeline. Later, the duo went to Vilag to see Evelyn Rossiter (nee Smythe) years after she left the Doctor's company. In their later travels, the Doctor and Mel battled the Master once more as well as two more encounters with the Valeyard; the later would result in not only defeating him once and for all, but to re-write Mel's history to prevent her from becoming Death's Champion thus giving her an alternate version of the events taking place on Carsus as well as triggering the Doctor's death. As he was dying in thee TARDIS before Mel's very eyes, his last words to her were “Don’t cry Mel. It was my time. Well, maybe not, but it was my time to give. To donate. I’ve had a god innings you know, seen and done a lot. Can’t complain this time.
Don’t feel cheated.” Just as he died, the TARDIS was hit with a tractor beam leading to him hitting his head on the console as the ship was forced to land on Lakertya. The Doctor's began to regenerate as the Rani bombarded the ship. Gone was the maverick jester and came a face of a lil man who's far more than just that. His face was that of Time's Champion....
